In the case of this featured project, we enhanced the exteriors of the primary residence and investment property of homeowners in Albemarle. New Windows Boost Curb Appeal and Improve Energy Bills

For the primary residence located in Albemarle, the home’s original windows were wood. Wood is a beautiful material but are not as durable and require more maintenance than others. We removed all the old wood windows and replaced them with Simonton replacement vinyl windows. The new windows gave the home a more contemporary look while also offering optimal energy efficiency. The homeowners can expect years of beautiful views and reduced energy bills. In the replacement process, we also removed a failing bay window at the home’s rear, updating it to a picture window.

Exterior Renovation Goes Deep for Rental Property

The rental home, also located in Albemarle, required a more extensive exterior renovation. The client’s goals were to improve the home’s look and keep it protected. First, we began by removing two layers of old siding, one being wood and the other vinyl. The removal was a massive undertaking, requiring us to replace about 32’ of the band on the home.

Once the existing siding was gone, we installed Hardie® Plank siding, which is cement-fiber based and is our go-to for exterior renovations. It’s durable, moisture-resistant, and needs no maintenance. The homeowners choose the lap siding product for the main areas accented with hand-split shake siding over the porch area, giving the home a signature look. The light neutral and naturally inspired color, Monterey Taupe, makes a statement as well, upgrading the house completely.

We also replaced all the windows with Simonton vinyl windows that deliver on aesthetics and performance. To complete the look, we built custom cedar posts for the front porch and shutters. Looking at the before and after of the rental property, you can see how dramatic the change was.

Now the homeowners have a beautiful home that’s structurally secure so that they can attract new tenants without concerns.
